Yes that's true. I thought about that but went with what I went with. That the music is so powerful for Carl that it launches him into a window of lucidity. Not that I know enough about music therapy to know if that would have much of a chance of actually happening. But it must though. Otherwise what is the point of music therapy? To treat music therapists to touching scenes?
By the way one of the tags is "fiction" but nobody ever looks at the tags. Did you realize it was fiction when you got to the part about Carl conversing with Helen? Like you said, that isn't the sort of thing that happens.
I wrote the part that follows the separator first, then realize I wasn't getting at what I felt, & so wrote that little story, leaving the part after the separator as a note of explanation.
